Triumphs have long been treated to customisation, from the 70s chopped Bonnevilles to the modern Scrambler builds. A model that doesn’t get as much custom treatment, however, is the Speed Triple. FTR take a closer look at this Mad Max inspired build.
Performance upgrades, forks, exhausts and clip-on bars are more common than a new take on the Speed’s looks. This Edition Vintage from the Parisian workshop Creativ Garage brings a classic vibe to a thoroughly modern motorcycle.
Based on a 2006 1050cc machine, the Edition Vintage’s cream and black paint job hark back to an earlier era. Modifications include parts treated with Teflon in black satin, a Creativ Vintage seat in distressed leather and a carbon front mudguard and chain cover. When shod with Continental TCK 80s, this Speed has an off-road style in stark contrast to its road-focused roots.
The man behind the machine is Dorian Gabriel, who owns Creativ Garage: “This was the first build we tackled at Creativ Garage, and the one that inspired the rest of our designs. This model was actually my own motorcycle that I had for five years. My main aim was to make a retro-modern machine mounted with extreme tyres to give it a Mad Max style.”
There is definitely a post-apocalyptic feel to this motorcycle but it’s not heavy handed, Dorian has an eye for subtlety and detail. It would certainly be our mount of choice should the end of the world be nigh…
