It’s finally here in all its understated glory… the wraps are off the new Barbour International-Triumph bike.
But the brains behind the BIT2 admits he was staring defeat in the face when the guys from Triumph handed over the base Thruxton R to his Down and Out Café Racers workshop in Yorkshire.
Shaun Walker said: “We wanted to build a bike that wasn’t too far away from the brilliant new Thruxton R, but it’s not easy to build a custom bike that’s already so good out of the box.
“We had to take a step back and see where we could safely start because it looks great already. We also wanted the bike to fit the brand ethos of Barbour and Triumph.”
Watch the masters at work…
The BIT2, with its leather tank strap from a Triumph Barbour belt and custom Matt Black and Barbour Yellow paintwork from Pro Kustom Paints, also features new 16×3 wheels front and rear, new stainless steel spokes, powder coated rims and hubs.
Other mods include a one-off alloy faring, unique stainless steel faring mounts, alloy seat hump and new custom seat by Debs at bespokevdubs using Barbour’s distinctive wax fabric.
Shaun added: “After handlebar clip-ons, our own chain guard, custom headlight mounted to the faring and a new custom tail light, we reckon the style works really well as a modern classic style racer with a bit of Down and Out in there too.”
